Before the
arrival of the "White Fella" who had found his way into the Red Heart, while searching out the
best route for a Telegraph Line, to connect Southern and Northern
Australia, The ancient Aboriginal Inhabitants communicated via their
Songs, Stories, Rituals and Art. Their
Art was either etched into rock or
painted on rock faces or in caves using crushed ochres found from around the
region. This changed in the early 1970s, when the very first modern styles
of Aboriginal Art were born at Papunya community. There a
"White Fella" school teacher Geoffrey Bardon invited the Elders to experiment with paint on boards and canvas and portray their
Traditional Dreaming Stories. What followed was the "Birth" of
modern aboriginal art...Now World renowned and much sought after. |
